How did you come up with the idea of revolutionizing this technology?

I was often dealing with freeze-dryers during my career, so I got to learn a lot about this drying technology. I also found out that  few manufacturers tried to improve it but never succeeded. Thanks to my knowledge and experience, I worked out a way to agitate under vacuum without having any problems of rotating joint and loss of vacuum.

 

Why is the process innovative?

For many years, freeze-drying had not been reviewed, as it is mainly used in the pharmaceutical industry, where innovation is very difficult. Indeed, any innovation requires the validation from the  Health agencies. The  file process must be resubmitted if you want to implement a major change in the manufacturing.

By focusing primarily on the food and cosmetic market, innovation is easier to achieve.

The principle of innovation: gently agitate the product during the drying cycle. The pendulum movement increases the transfers of heat inside the sublimator. The steam is carried out thanks to flexible tubes connected to a condenser

It offers great advantages: cheaper, less energy consumption, reduces labor and investment costs.

We are also developing continuous freeze-drying, based on the same principle

The robustness of the technology is such that we did not have any major failure over 2 years of operation in our pilot unit

Finally, the investment costs are considerably reduced and our suppliers for equipment are all located in the  vicinity of Lyon  (France). We do not  rely on Asian markets to fix or develop our machines.
